Bracketing
Age:
School-aged teams are determined based on player grades, not ages. Teams should register based on the grade they will be entering at the end of the Summer. If you graduated in the current year you do not qualify for school aged teams. If teams mix players of different grades, that's OK ... but they will be placed in the division of the oldest player.
Out of school teams are determined by the age that you will be at the tournament. Out of school teams who mix ages are placed in the division of the youngest player.
Gender:
COED teams must have one player of each sex on the court at all times.
If a team wants to play COED in a division where COED is NOT offered, they will automatically be placed in the Men's Division. If more than 3 COED teams register in their according Men's Division, a separate COED bracket *may* be created for those teams at the discretion of the bracketing committee.
If 3 or less teams register for a bracket, they will be combined with another bracket.
(see Division Combinations below)
All divisions will participate in a Pool Play on Saturday with Single Elimination Championship on Sunday.
(for larger divisions consolation brackets on Sunday may be added at bracketing committee discretion)
Notice: Division Combinations
If SilverHoops does not have enough teams in any division, officials have the right to combine divisions into a single bracket to play each other. This is done to ensure all teams will be able to play at least 4 games as promised. An attempt will be made to contact team captains if/when there are any divisions to be combined.
Notice: Consolation brackets
If a division has sufficient teams the bracketing committee may include a single elimination consolation bracket in addition to the Single Elimination Championship Bracket on Sunday. Teams who lose their first game or other certain games in the championship bracket will/may be seeded into the consolation bracket allowing players, teams and spectators more fun on Sunday.
(consolation brackets do not receive a shirt, only the undefeated winner of the championship brackets)
